A few questions for CMA Housing:
What is the University's reason for extending the requirement for cadets to live on campus past freshman year, without exception? What is the projected expense increase for cadets who presently live off campus? Do you believe that the benefits to having all students on campus outweigh the financial burden to the students?
For cadets who are Vallejo natives, and currently do not have to pay ANY additional room and board because they live with their families, does the benefit to requiring them to live on campus outweigh the significant financial burden imposed?
For cadets who are married or have children, will they be able to continue to apply for an off-campus waiver? If not, will you be extending housing and food to children of cadets and their non-cadet spouses? If two cadets are married, will they be able to apply to live together in the same dorm? What additional resources will you provide to make housing and food more child-friendly?
For cadets who apply for a financial hardship waiver, will you be providing a discount to housing and food plans to offset their increased costs?
Regarding the statement that all cadets who signed the petition, regardless of the content of any additional comments on the petition, will be receiving 30 demerits: can you please identify what part of the student code cadet signatories have violated? Is it the policy of CMA that cadets may not respectfully, publicly, and collectively address their grievances to faculty and staff? Do you believe that the policy to restrict respectful petitioning is consistent with CMA's responsibilities as a public institution under the 1st Amendment? If so, can you suggest what other remedies cadets may utilize to exercise their 1st Amendment right to publicly petition the school for a redress of grievences?

If I had to live on campus I would have had to drop out of school or spend 8 years getting my FET degree. I do not wish this school to only be for rich families paying their kids threw college. I work full time, 40 hours at mess deck because no one would hire my schedule off campus, even with this I barely pay all my bills: car, phone, car insurance, food (mostly free from working mess deck), rent, utillities, gas, and credit cards I had to use to get threw the summer, even though I was doing an internship for $15 an hour 40 hours with overtime. I still barely make those bills now, can only sleep 6 hours a night, and barely keeping up in class work. My rent is only $500. I could NOT live on campus with out being fully on some government supports, I do not wish that on any college students working hard for a better future than we grew up in. Please do not make this a requirement.

Unacceptable. How can the university prove that living on campus provides a better quality of life than living off campus? They cant even manage to fix a dishwasher, how in the world are they going to fix the Motel so it is a place that is livable for students.

All the thousands of dollars we give to this school and we’re told that I’m going to live in a Motel 6? This is obviously a cheap and petty way to give the school more money.

This is wrong. Threading to give us demerits for signing a petition is also wrong. Some lived close to CMA before attending here and would like to live off campus for financial resaons.

While it is true that having to be closer to campus residence can allow proper attendance during an emergency, the registered students who would prefer to live outside of such restraint should not be limited in doing so, allowing choices in what houses they can afford with their friends for a less expensive price as a whole.

As if college doesn't make enough from our tuition and uniforms. Housing should be suggested, improved upon to make students incentivized to live on campus. It should not restrict students who choose otherwise to live off campus.
