The amount charged for the laughable meal plan and poor living conditions is ridiculous. Every other school in the CSU allows students to live off campus, the students should be able to as well.

Other CSU do not require all their students to live on campus, only underclassman. This also keeps out those who live off campus for financial reasons, dietary concerns, or just want to start being an adult. We should not be held responsible for helping the school get out of their debt, we pay more then our fair share.

I save $4000 a year living off campus. This includes power, food, and rent for 12 months. Making students move back on campus after acquiring a home and furniture is unfair. On campus housing is far more expensive than off campus housing and I can’t really afford either.

I’m against being forced to live on campus all 4 years. I live 5 minutes away from campus. This policy is purely ridiculous to make me pay full room and board.

Students should live off campus if it saves money for their families. We were told during freshmen orientation to reinforce to our kids to not cross the street to buy snacks and the motel puts them in harms way.

To force everyone to live on campus AND pay the outrageous cost for the meal plan is mind blowing. With the cheapest meal plan, it comes out to about $12 a meal on average. That is assuming you eat at all meals allocated per week, which I do not since I get free food off campus. They need to make the meal plan optional and allow students to pay for individual meals as they like. The Motel 6 is not in a secure location either. Crimes are commited on Freshman hill right next to the police department. The Motel 6 is right on a street with very high crime rates, freeway access right there for easy getaways, and far from the police department. In no way would parents or students feel safe with these living situations. To be completely honest, what is the harm in allowing students to choose how much to eat on campus or where to live? Other than the revune lost by literally forcing students to pay for these services they potentially have no interest in whatsoever. Feel free to respond to me with a response.

It is unacceptable that those granted off campus housing will be required to give up housing leases and belongings to live in the motel 6. It is dirty and unsafe and further away from campus than any other housing.

Given that most people who choose to go to collage also have to make the decision to carry student loans after graduation, this makes the situation worse. Some may even opt out of a degree completely. This is not a good idea.
