I agree that students should have a choice for where they obtain housing.

I disagree with the university's plan to pull cadets back on campus. The campus facilities are small, lack kitchens, and they lack air conditioning. The forced dining plan provides unhealthy food at a low quality and high price. I am sad to see the university make such poor money grabbing decisions. Where is the focus on education and student health?

This is ridiculous. The fact that I am having to petition at my will of having to stay on campus as an Adult. Financially I’m unsuitable to stay in a dorm that cost almost 2400 dollars. Why would I pay this much when I can live on my own with way better living conditions. I mean tutition is already at an all time high and students are even wondering about how much debt we all will have after graduating. I mean it’s called having a choice. Being an adult is all about making choices. This school has turned into some holding cell as if it were a military when it is not! It’s a CSU that has an emphasis in the maritime Industry. This can’t even be an option. We have the right to choices as being an adult.

This is completely absurd, trying to threaten the student body with thirty demerits for not agreeing with the grand all mighty. You would rather put students off the campus in a MOTEL 6 and have us pay ridiculous housing prices then to live off campus, pay less and live on our own. When you make these decisions do you think of anything other than the dollars in your pocket. Like the whole student body hating the school and making this school close. Try not to destroy Cal Maritime, we are the only one on the west coast. #DEMERITime #maritimescrew, I'm glad i'm signing this petition and will take those demerits and fight them, because I'm pretty sure it wouldn't hold up.

Although the housing may not be mandatory and we do not have all of the information. I do feel that the goal of being a "residential campus" is threatening to many individuals in many aspects. I also feel that this school is great at getting students to come here, but from the moment they get here they treat a vast majority of the students like second class citizens. We are in the works of getting a town hall meeting. Your input will be greatly appreciated and we need to remember to gather FACTS and STATISTICS rather than complain about the situation. They will utilize the PR responses that they have been trained to do for so many years. We have the resources and the knowledge to take those silly PR responses and deconstruct them logically to the point that they will have to eat their own words. Do you research and stay informed.
Do not just picket them without cause. No violent and abusive protests end well. In order for this to work and not look like entitled students, but rather individuals who have not received what we have been told was going to be given to us, we need to use our respect and knowledge to win them over.

If well over a third of the student body feels as if on campus housing is inadequate two things are possible: housing neglects the needs of the students knowingly or they truly don’t know how we feel about our situation. With the fantasticly warm and fuzzy response given by our housing coordinator, someone who is supposed to have our best interests in mind, it’s apparent that the former is indisputably where our administrators minds lie.
We are adults. This is not a boarding school where teenagers are sent because of their behavior. This is a college, in these four years we have the potential to grow more as a person than any other time in our lives.
I would hate to say I spent those years in a motel 6.

My boyfriend attends Cal Maritime and we've been living together this year. Please do not make campus housing mandatory, it's not fair to the students or the loved ones they live with.

Stop making the students have to live on campus past their freshman year, no other CSU requires on campus living, school is already too expensive, less students will be attending school

This school produces some of the best Officers on the market, and, the school prides itself in the refining and development of leadership roles and responsibilities that its students poses. Perhaps the system and the people within it should acknowledge that we are not to be belittled, an by chance maybe, quite possibly, even incrementally, listen to what we have to say about the decisions which affect us directly?

No mandatory on campus housing, it will increase the already very high price, plus the campus will be a big mess
