Stop Llantrisant War Memorial From Being Erected On The Bull Ring

Should go on castle grounds.

Castle Green is the right place

The bull ring is a busy area with lots of traffic. The castle green will be a calming area and away from all the hussle of the surrounding shops and cafés.

As previously said. A place for reflection and solemnity. That's not the Bull Ring.

As a current memeber of 1st the Queens Dragoon Guards aka The Welsh Cavlary and being born and raised in llantrisant and putting the memorial next to a busy main road would be a great disrespect to those. Who have fallen to give people a better future itwould be great to see it on the castle green were it peaceful and close to the church

This memorial is more suited to the Castle Green. It should be erected in a place of quite reflection not by a busy public road.

Placing this Memorial on the Bull ring will be a betrayal to all Llantrisant residents who have fought in conflicts over the centuries. A Memorial should be a place of reflection, a place of tranquillity and a place of gathering to show respect. The Bull ring does not meet any of those criteria. The Castle Green meets them all. The Memorial isn't a vanity project to show off to the fleeting glances of commuters and passers by. Although the Bull ring needs addressing, siting the memorial there is not appropriate. The Castle Green has the remains of the Castle and the commemorative stone for the battle of Crecy, complimenting these with the War memorial seems most appropriate to me. The Castle green is also more suitable for visitors to pay their respect in an area of tranquillity - the Bull ring is not. The Castle green is far more appropriate area to accommodate a decent gathering during times of remembrance - without the problems of traffic management presented by the Bull Ring. With the restoration of the Guild Hall also in the pipe line, it would be short sighted folly not to compliment the Guild Hall with the Memorial alongside. I can thing of no redeeming criteria to support siting the memorial anywhere other than on The Castle Green: least of all on the Bull ring.

The castle green is the logical place to site the war memorial.

I strongly oppose that the war memorial should be placed on the bull ring and fully support it being placed on the Castle Green area

I think this war memorial should be erected in the castle green by the crecy memorial as this would fit in nicely and tie the history of war in the same place and it a quieter area to morn the loss of people who fought in the war, also respectively the statue of dr William price is a credit to our history and shouldn't be over looked by another statue

It has a particular significance for me as some of my relatives will feature on the Memorial. During its early years of existence, I played a role in the Committee’s proceedings, assisting with research, performing PR duties and had great pleasure in appearing at charity concerts and acting as compere for various events. Therefore may I make it perfectly clear how much I support their endeavours. I come from a British Army service family. My grandfather, Thomas Powell enlisted in the Royal Artillery during World War II and spent almost four cruel years as a prisoner of war of the Japanese in Java. This experience devastated his long term health and the effects of those years never left him. My father, David Powell, remains proud of his many years serving in the Welsh Guards for which he enjoyed numerous honours. I have also worked closely with various organisations including Help for Heroes and RAF Lyneham. I am greatly concerned at the apparent lack of vision or wider consultation with the entire community, in the siting of the proposed Llantrisant War Memorial. The planning application submitted to Rhondda Cynon Taf Council suggests the Memorial be placed adjacent to the Town Pump on the Bull Ring of Llantrisant. As yet no notices have appeared on the Bull Ring. In my opinion, the Bull Ring is a cluttered and a badly-planned central square. This should be an open space, allowing the opportunity during the summer months to develop a “street-café” culture and enhance the local area, bringing more visitors to the town and bo
