I recommend as many people as possible call to complain. I spoke with my regional office. I am trying to get in touch with Little League International. The number is 570-326-1921. Supposedly Jamie is the one to speak with. I think any current player that has a birthdate between May 1 and the end of the year should be allowed a waiver to play down as long as they do not have a break in service.

The change should not strip away a year of eligibility. It is not fair that players lose a year of playing eligibility.

I understand the change but it takes a year of eligibility away from kids who get that fact. The change should occur in 2021, that way current 5 year olds (who wouldn't know better) begin play at the new age requirement.

My son did not make all star this year cause they don't pay attention to african American kids playing only a 2 kids made it at all threw 11 and 12 so this rule should pass down it will be better to challenge your child to become grater

My son's birthday is Oct 2005. With this rule change, he will effectively lose his 12 year old season in majors. While I understand that Little League doesn't want to have 13 year olds play in the LIttle League World Series, moving from 4/30 to 12/31 is too drastic. Besides, Little League World Series is over by end of Aug.

They need to grandfather all current players and start the new age determination date with incoming players next year. This implementation negatively impacts far too many children!!

They should really grandfather the rule change so this years 7 year olds can play as an 8 year old next season. They will all miss their opportunity to play Allstars. I think registration will take a turn for the worse. Less kids will play little league here in Canada. They will play Canadian baseball/bc minor in British Columbia

This doesn't affect my son but it does affect thousands of kids who will lose a season of little league baseball (such as those kids who are currently considered league 8 but turn 9 after 4/30)

Any kid that is playing 9-10 years of age should be grandfathered in. My son is sitting behind 12 year olds in the majors and it would not be fair that he does not get his chance to play his 12 year old year. (He is 10)

This rule is just awful! My son is 10 and just moved up to majors this year and he sits the bench behind all the 12 year olds now. Anyone in majors 9 and up should be grandfathered in. I have a younger son playing in the 7-8 dividson and will not affect him. Very sad to say that I will have to pull both of my kids out of little league and go a few miles up the road and change leagues. Please don't cheat the kids sitting the bench that are 9-10!?

Now that this ridiculous rule has been passed, we need to get another petition going to insist on fair implementation, by grandfathering all current players!! I have been commenting on the Little League Facebook page, trying to get them to post about this new rule. Most people are unaware I have found. I did get a call from someone in from Little League in Williamsport saying they are working on the correct wording to put the news out. Unfortunately there is no way to word it that can make it look ok to rob kids of a year of Little League!

My son is 10 yrs old and this is his first year in the majors division in little league. If this passes, he is playing as an 11 year old this year even though he won't be 11 until the end of September (after the little league season is already over). That means that next year will be his last year and then he will move up to the Babe Ruth level. There is absolutely no way he would be ready for that. Not to mention the strain it is going to put on his arm trying to throw the longer distance. I think this is horrible! Also, the conversations that go on in the dugouts in the higher leagues is no place for a young child. He would just turn 12 and be playing with 15 year olds. That's no way to keep kids young! I am 100% against this.

Taking away a year of eligibility for any kid sends the wrong message for Little League baseball or softball. Use school age standards is the only thing I could agree with. Down with this proposal.

Class of 2003 is getting shortchanged by League's rush to change. Rule should be grandfathered through 2016 season, which gives every child 4 years of small diamond eligibity.

The problem is that it is broke. For example: My son's birthday is 4/21. There is a kid who's birthday is 5/2. He is in 7th grade and my son is 3rd. He throws 70mph. How is that competitive for baseball? How do you play 90% of the season at 13 in a 200 foot field?
