Stop Little League Vote to Take Year of Eligibility

If we are going to change the date again, do it the same way it was done last time. Grandfather the kids in. It is better to let the players affected have an additional year than to take a kids 12 year old year away from them. The kids dream of the opportunity to potentially play in the Little League World Series. By making the change that has been suggested there will be a group of kids that will go from being considered an 11 year old straight to being considered a 13 year old. This will basically make them skip their 12 year old year. That is wrong. I'd rather error on the side that a kid gets a chance to have an extra 12 year old year than not have one at all.

As a former coach and 3 boys who are now either in college or married, I hope the powers that be take into the account of a 12 year old having to play with 13/14 year olds on larger fields,base paths etc. If this passes I think you will see even more kids drop out of baseball, especially the "bubble" kids.

I coached the 8 year old allstar team last year in our LL and we also play as a travel ball team outside of LL. We had a meeting last night to discuss this. I had the team seperate on two sides of the room with their parents by birthdate. If this rule stands in 2018, out of 11 players, 7 will miss their 12 year old year. I had a few parents and kids I thought were going to cry when I told them. This is very sad and needs to be fixed ASAP before the entire team leaves LL altogether.

As a little league coach, I believe this rule will negatively affect the kids both on and off the baseball diamond!

My son was born December 23, 2006 and now has to play on minors league. He is not ready for that age group. This is very unfair and discouraging for him to be forced into this age group. Please change the rules back.

My son, and all those born in 2006 are negatively impacted and being penalized for an issue that could be avoided in a number of ways. If the true goal is to prevent boys from playing at age 13, why not keep the age brackets as is with a stipulation that prevents 13 year olds from playing in All Stars. Furthermore, Little Leagues statement, "with the exception of a marginal impact on players currently participating in the very early stages of their Little League career", couldn't be further from the truth.
