This is shameful , most especially when redundancy after redundancy is taking place. People are expected to do jobs that were previously done by several people, this inevitably results in services not being as efficient. How on earth can this be justified?

I think it is disgusting laying off workers and cutting services to save money and on the other hand awarding themselves a 24% pay rise in this time of austerity.

Given the shambles that Whitley Bay and much of North Tyneside in, a 24% reduction in expenses would be more appropriate.

This would be an absolute disgrace and a mockery of democracy if allowed to proceed. I agree with SM Khan that Whitley Bay and North Tyneside has been neglected for far too long. The Bay is a mere shadow of it's former glory. This is in large part due to lack of support by the local authority to monitor, maintain and update the facilities that were available and keep people interested to visit. A town cannot thrive on private funding alone. In stead of keeping people in employment, improving services, assisting local businesses to be better and allowing people to feel pride in their town, the Council have decided to increase their pay packet. THIS MUST NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN! These people have been elected to better the lives of the people in the community, NOT their own!

i have signed this petition because of all the cuts around the area where I live. If they can't afford to maintain our towns they can't afford to pay themselves more money.
