I, like others, believe that Councillors who want the pay rise are putting themselves first, to the detriment of the electorate and council employees. If and when they listen to the local population and actually achieve something.........

If these people want to become councillors because they care about the community, money should not be their priority. If they see being a councillor as an occupation rather than a vocation, then they are, by default, selfish and not credible to hold the post.
