I want counsellors passionate about representing their constituents for the good of the community. Part of the community are suffering from low wage rises and the threat of redundancy, not least at the council where cuts are being made, and this move will only serve to widen the gap between politicians and those they represent. At this time of wide disenchantment with politicians I believe that this rise in alowances should be much smaller.

I am standing as a UKIP candidate in the council elections. ALL UKIP candidates will refuse this rise if elected.

What a daftntime to do this when Labour will be fighting in a General Election. What message does this send out to voters? The only message is that they are only interested in lining their own pockets. Well I don't want them lining their pockets out of my pension thank you very much. Just when I was really impressed with their hard work and presentation of the work to be done to improve the Spanish city and sea front shown at the Library recently.

i work for the council and have not had a rise for many years, have had my hours cut, my job is constantly under threat and friends made redundant. It is ludicrous that they can give themselves such a rise in the current climate

This brings into question the type of councillors we are voting for obviously they are only there for the money not for the good of the people as councillors years ago used to give their time for no pay just because they felt they needed to help the community.
