I want everyone, old or young, to be safe on our streets. We need more police and a stronger judiciary handing down harsher sentences as a deterrent.

We here did not have to be too concerned about such things at one time, but, with various and violent crime rearing it's ugly head increasingly, I happily join the call for more Police presence on our streets. Lets try to get rid of the crimes and those who would commit them.

I am happy to sign this petition but angry that it's necessary. The local Labour Party has been saying for years that cuts to police numbers leads to an increase in crime, despite Conservative denails of any correlation. The story attached to this petition is a sad one, one of many sad ones. We need an increased and more visible uniformed police presence in Southend, and the promised 12 extra officers (covering three shifts with rest days, so more like a maximum of 4 extra at any one time in the whole borough) isn't enough. If Labour gain control of Southend Council in next month's local elections we will create an enforcement service to deal with anti-social behaviour and environmental crime - the council can't put more police on the streets - that's for the Home Office and the Essex Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner - but a uniformed presence would be a deterrent and provide some reassurance and pergaps even free up some police time.

If there is an increase in a certain type of crime (knives and violence) there must be an increase of policing to target this. A continuation of status quo policing will result in that type of crime escalating out of hand which will in the long term require much more policing to return to original levels. Simply man-up and nip it in the bud.

More police are required on our streets day and night to prevent any crime. Police were originally introduced by Sir Robert Peel to prevent crime!!! Not solve crime

The level of crime is totally unacceptable and politicians need to step up their support for better care of of our community

I support the argument for having more police on the ground. Visibility is an important factor in deterrence. Two men were seen on my drive at 02:00hrs on the 17th of April 2018 but left quickly when my security light came on. Their presence was detected by my neighbours CCTV.

We need more police presence in Shoeburyness, along with CCTV camera's. We also need to re-evaluate our justice system, to allow courts to hand out stiffer sentences as a deterrent.
