It is dreadful to hear flight take off everyday at 6:50 am. We bought our home almost 20 years ago when this was not an issue. Now, I so regret buying here because of the noise. We now hear FedEx flights leaving before dawn. These need to stop. It's horrible to be awakened Every.. Single. Day....to the sound of jets taking off.

Meetings addressing these issues at the Newport Civic Center relayed there is a marker in the middle to the bay that all planes use to guide their route. We were told that this directs the plane down the center of the bay so they will not fly over the homes on the west or east side of the bay. Most airlines do not follow the voluntary abatement procedures and the new equipment measuring the sound volume is inaccurate or not at acceptable levels for our human ears. Please make the necessary and corrective measures to current and future Newport Beach residents safe and healthy. Thank you.

We have lived in Eastbluff for over 28 years and the noise level has increased very significantly in recent times. What is the problem with continuing noise abatement as well as flying over back bay to lessen the noise impact as well as the pollution over our homes? Please stop this madness and do the right thing for the residences and businesses who are impacted by this issue!

We have lived here for 18 years and the noise is a LOT worse with the FAA's new plan. This petition is reasonable. Now it is time for the FAA to be reasonable.

I'm ALL FOR your efforts here, but you have to understand WHY the airplanes are now typically more WEST of the centerline of the Back Bay....
It is NOT a result of the SoCal 'Metroplex', as you say.
It is because of a change made roughly 2yrs ago to the (magnetic) designation of the runways at SNA.
You see, for over 60yrs, the runways have been designated 19R & 19L (that's because they are 'more or less' pointed on a 190 degrees magnetic heading). As a result of a phenomenon known as 'magnetic variation', over the years, the runways are now pointed closer to 200 degrees. This prompted the FAA to change the runway #'s to 20R/L which necessitated changing the approach & departure procedures.
So - now, because of the new departure procedures, when the planes depart towards the ocean (typical), the prescribed departure procedure path is now a few degrees more to the West than previous, thus putting the planes more over Dover Shores (and even as far west as Irvine Ave).
If the planes turned Left "shortly after leaving the runway", as written above, that would actually result in the departure path being more Easterly, or potentially over East Bluff. So this interpretation is incorrect.
Again, I am ALL FOR your efforts, as I live 1/2 block west of Irvine.......... But I have flown out of SNA for over 40yrs, and I'm afraid the FAA will not re-design the departure procedures for residents under the airport's departure path.
Keep up the fight, though.

Please change the flight patterns back to what they were. Our homes weren't built to be noise proof because we have never had this noise before. It is scary having planes fly over our homes and schools.

The airplanes are TOO LOW and TOO LOUD and TOO FREQUENT. Other neighborhoods who utilize JWA need to shoulder some of the burden as well. The noise and jet fuel are absolutely unbearable.
