Stop Job Shopping Now!

This should not have been implemented without consultation. It is an unacceptable invasion of the members' private and family lives 24/7. It presents long term health Issues from stress related illnesses and safety concerns since anxious OTs may be tempted to search for jobs whilst driving.

Thanks for taking the SCDSB to task for their premature implementation of "Job Shopping". Their (SCDSB) listening to our federation executives could very well avoid some long term active supply teachers, who try to supply for The Board of Education beyond the 50 day ceiling for teachers on pension, totally walking away from occasional teaching status. Good on everyone who listens actively and prevents poor judgement from being implemented! HRT

Timing is inconvenient. Requests are not going through properly and are being accepted by shoppers. I was getting calls every day previously. Why not move job shopping to after evening calls go out? This would make more sense.

This system was imposed without consultation. It has negatively impacted my access to daily casual work and forced additional hours of work onto my already busy schedule. The system needs to be designed with respect for real peoples' lives and livelihoods. Job Shopping should be immediately halted until a fair consultation process has been undertaken to ensure the system meets the needs of ALL parties involved.

I have seen no jobs when I have tried to go on the site. I have heard of teachers' requesting a specific qualified supply teacher for their day absence and the request was ignored.Frustrating for teachers whom wish their lessons to be carried on . And my cell phone is for emergency use only.

I am happy to carry my phone in my fanny back around my waist every evening from 6-10pm as I am not inconvenienced since the SCARRI phone call takes on average 30-45 seconds of my time. I am still able to carry on with my regular evening routine including piano teaching & tutoring with little interruption. In contrast, job shopping is greatly interfering & dominating my personal life as I am spending much of my evening looking for a job if one is not readily available @ 5pm. It is also disrupting my evening employment as I am required to hunt down my own jobs continuously rather than answering a phone call with a job offering. Job shopping is also interfering with my sleep due to the possibility of looking for work from 12am-5am. I am happy to answer a 45 second phone call but job shopping requires much more of my unpaid time. I also question if job shopping is offering work in a fair manner to all members. It appears to create competition for all jobs rather than equally distributing the work. Please return to the pbone system only.

Job Shopping has greatly and negatively affected my whole families quality of life. Please stop it!

I already think that the request system is super biased as the principals like nice smiling young faces and PREFER that their teachers find supply teachers as such. Now they have added a shopping feature to the mix which is unbelievably inequitable as some occasionals have their entire family on shifts repeatedly pushing search all night while they attend to other tasks. You also need a phone with an internet connection to accomplish this task. One woman informed me that "I need to work every day" so I have my 2 kids searching jobs for me before they go to bed then my husband takes over and if nobody has succeeded then I will continue as long as possible and wake up at 5am to repeat. What shocked me was that she even had her kids searching in the morning while she prepared breakfast and their bags. The Board continuously preaches equity and equality throughout the schools, maybe it's time they stopped talking and actually lived up to those words. What's next?

Job Shopping was inflicted on the Membership without consultation and offends me as it is "too American" sounding and gives some an unfair advantage.(not the Canadian way of doing things.

Don't need it. Use the former method.

As a Technology teacher, I already receive fewer calls than teachers with academic qualifications. I fear that job shopping will further limit the number of opportunities for me. Also, the ststem is very limited due to only showing jobs for a single day. If this system were to continue, all jobs should be visible to everyone. Most importantly, with everything hidden except what the board system determines we should see, how do we know that the system is offering jobs according to our agreement?

I am very disappointed with 'job shopping ' since I cannot be online to find a job at all hours. As a result I have been unable to find any assignments this way on those occasions when I've had an opportunity to try this system. What are my chances of getting the 2 assignments I need this semester to stay on the active list? It's a discouraging situation.

We now have now become tethered to technology & as a result lifestyles are changing negatively in a large way. We are slaves to constantly checking phones, tablets, or computers for jobs that rarely ever seem to show up!
