Job Shopping hasn't worked for me. I prefer the call-out system.

No need to fix something that wasn't broken. Maybe if the time was increased from 5pm to an earlier start time to have the jobs posted, then there wouldn't be so much stress and pressure at 5pm. We do have lives too!

This new system is horrible! Its not fair that some people can pick up three different assignments in the same time a bunch of other people cant even get one and they have the same schools on their list.

Being glued to a computer screen is not a nice lifestyle. Could possibly be used 10pm-12pm. No mornings!!!

Even for the tech savvy, job shopping is an extremely unfair and unrealistic way to run the system. It only guarantees that those us with absolutely nothing to do between 5 and 11:59 have a shot at getting a job, and I can't think of a single person who has nothing to do between those times except refresh the SCARRI page over and over. Please go back to the old system; it was efficient and fair. The frustration and anger this new system is causing isn't worth it.

I usually in the past have had many calls. On this system now I have not received a call at all. I have tried job shopping but nothing ever shows up even when I go on right at the opening time.

No job offers, 15 sec search leads to constant checking, up at 5 to check. What's going on ?

I think job shopping is totally ridiculous! I have 2 young kids that require my attention and being tethered to a computer or my phone in hopes that a job pops up is completely unreasonable! Also I live in a rural area where my Internet is unreliable. I feel like I am at a disadvantage because I don't have conventional high speed Internet.

I've been on the supply list since 2007 and it hasn't been easy to rely on this as a full time income over the last 10 years but the old system was at least fair even if supply calls became more infrequent. Job shopping adds a dimension to the supply teacher life that creates inequality and fosters more anxiety and competition. It will only serve to debase this profession further and negatively impact the quality of life of occasional teachers. The last thing the board should want is an even more fatigued and anxious supply teacher. I now worry that I've lost potential income due to there being a competitive online element operating ahead of the call out periods. What am I supposed to do?....Stay up forever refreshing a page in hopes of finding something before anyone else does??? That's insanity!

I coach three days a week from 5pm-7pm. Not all of us have the opportunity to sit and refresh the job shopping screen for an hour every night. As a result I'm losing out on job opportunities. If this continues I'll have to resign from my volunteer coaching position in my community.

I am currently doing a part-time LTO placement and not looking to do a lot of supply work, but I am concerned as to how job shopping will affect me, when I return to supply teaching. I am usually teaching after-school/evening music lessons at the time when job shopping starts.

Being tethered to the internet does not make sense for supply teachers (or even for the full time teachers). It's an abuse of technology to close in on our private home time without paying for it. Supply teachers are not paid for after-school time, and earn far less than those with extra work at home. They, however, do not need an extra load at home either.

Job shopping has had a negative impact on the working conditions
and the amount of work I get.
I work part time as a tutor to supplement my supply teaching income which makes me unavailable as late as 8:oopm to job shop.
This unavailability has probably reduced my chances of securing future work. Before job shopping I was able to get job placements while working part time or doing other life style activities (going to the gym, errrands ect) with the same chances as getting work as other supply teachers getting calls on my cell phone.
I would like to pose the question to the people responsible for implementing this unfair and oppressive system: For whom and how many is job shopping convenient for? Is it convenient for a handful of administrators to ensure job vacancies are filled?
Was filling job vacancies a problem in the past? I don't think past numbers support any need to make changes, and the change to job shopping will only negatively impact every supply teachers lifestyle.
