The government should enforce the law to stop illegal deforestation by funding the police so they can patrol the forest areas. The reason the government should do this is because when people cut down trees, they release the greenhouse gasses that are stored inside of them. When people do too much deforestation, it pushes the already endangered species to the brink of extinction. Some evidence of this is in Kalimantan. The orangutans who live there are forced to go out of their natural habitats which can cause some serious trouble for them. If their forests are destroyed, they might not have enough food and space to live. This also applies to all the animals that live in the forests. This is because studies show 80% of all animals lose their habitats as a result of deforestation. So because of this, the government should enforce the law to stop illegal deforestation by funding the police so they can patrol the forest area.

Updates

April 23, 2021

I have officially sent a formal briefing to the forestry oversight committee regarding the situation in Kalimantan. My next step is to coordinate with investigative journalists who specialize in land use policy to ensure these reports reach the public record.

April 23, 2021

The growth of this petition has reached a level that allows us to move forward with formal requests for meetings at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. My legal team is currently drafting the official correspondence to present our demands for increased police patrols in Kalimantan. I will provide an update once we receive a confirmed response regarding these requested sessions.

Agree! We should try our best to keep our forest from illegal logging. Even better if the government could provide assistances and information about sustainable forestry method.
