Deforestation is rampant in Australia, and our laws are enabling it. deforestation has a real impact on our future. It degrades our soil, contaminates waterways and destroys carbon sinks in turn contributing to climate change. But it's not too late. We can make a change.
Our government has the power to change these laws for the better. They can strengthen these laws requiring responsible forest management and certification. This means sustainable harvest limits, mandatory replanting, and protection of high-conservation-value forests.
