We already have 2 day care centers in Garnet street plus Happy Clown in Duntroon street. Not to mention St Stephanos a short walk away! How many more do we need?!! There is already no parking in Garnet Street... We're getting 1000 new neighbours - plus a massive proposed day care center on a main road for 100 children and no additional parking built for them.
We were looking forward to supporting a renaissance of new businesses to bring much needed vibrancy to our growing community in much the same fashion that we have seen up the road in Dulwich Hill. Where are our restaurants and cafes?

Hurlstone Park and Canterbury area is already being over developed and not a safe place for children where there is already to much traffic.

I support creation of childcare spaces, but this is a poor location. Drop off will negatively impact upon Garnet street parking for residents.
Childcare use will be a poor result for activation of new Canterbury Road and inconsistent with the buildings DA.

What is the use of regulations if developers can breach them so easily? The site is not suitable for a childcare centre of the proposed capacity, there are three other child care centres less than 400m away, plus another one in Garnet Street. And there is not enough outdoor space for the children. The proposal is preposterous.

Apart from the obvious issues arising, lets see how many people exit out and down Garnet Street instead of onto Canterbury Road.
Plans show arrow out exit and Nth to C'By Rd. If anyone remembers the old Caltex servo and people exiting out and illegally onto the wrong side of the divider. An accident waiting to happen and too many close calls.
Anyone know any Police or SDRO ready to collect more than their share of fines?. They could collect heaps twice a day (drop off and pick up), 5 days a week just sitting outside this exit!

How many staff are required to run a 93 place child care centre and where are they all going to park? Where are 93 families going to park their cars during drop-off and pick-up?
There is hardly any street parking as it is.

It is extremely tight for vehicles on Garnet St, in particularly at the intersection of Garnet and Canterbury. I can't imagine how bad it would be with potentially 93 vehicles, 68 residents and all the school traffic.

IN THE FACT 68 RESIDENTIAL IS ALOT OF CAR ON THE DUNTROON ST PLUS OF SHOOL NEXT ROAD WAS VERY BUZY SO IF COUNCIL NOT STOP DA(138/2016) IS WILL BIG TROUPLE FOR RESIDENT LEAVING AT HURLSTONE PARK.

In addition to the dot points on the petition a major safety and traffic flow concern is the freeway conditions prohibiting parking or stopping from 3PM- 6PM during the drop off pickup times for the proposed Child Care Centre.
It is also a no stopping zone at all other times due to the highly dangerous nature of the curve in New Canterbury Rd. Council must be aware that parents and caretakers rushed for time and not able to find close parking will be inclined to stop and attempt a quick pickup as happens at many child care primary school locations.
The NSW government has authorised specific monitors to try and stop this very real practice.
In this location the results would be lethal. Canterbury Council should note that they will be held responsible if not accountable for promoting the likelihood of a tragedy of this nature.

This is very disappointing to see something like this happening again when it was only a few months ago that 32 Fricourt Ave was approved. The councillors promised that there won't be precedent as the site was existing (however we all know that the site was given the green light prior to DA submission) even though it was in breach of DCP. How many people were paid I wonder?
Let's see if Canterbury council let us down again!
