I can understand the need to make pavements safe for eg partially-sighted people, people in wheelchairs, prams etc; but street stuff is part of a living city/town and your man here isn't in the way.

For goodness sake Highland Council! This is ridiculous, have you nothing more serious to be worrying about? This is typical HRC behaviour sadly, why don't you concentrate on making the High Street etc more attractive for locals and the much needed tourist instead? Leave this jolly, iconic figure alone!! It's been part of the town for so long, why do you always have to spoil things with made up bureaucratic nonsense, forever sucking the joy out of life, you are only making yourselves look very small minded, petty and stupid. Leave it be!

what harm is this doing none at all, it is not even an obstruction, its in no ones way like some of the street billboards, he is an icon. Leave him where he is.
