This is a part of Inverness' heritage, and the Council have done enough damage with their crazy ideas. Leave this alone it has been there since I was a child and no-one has been harmed by it. Find something useful to do to help the locals instead

I would be interested if the Council could prove ownership os that specific piece of land and if not if the proprietor could register it in his name. Furthermore the sheer fact it has been occupied for 30 years by "jolly butcher" without any rental levy would raise some sort of rights action. And they would have to apply the same rules to ever single business with sandwich boards outside premises and so on... Worth the hassle?!?! Disgusting of the Local Authority to impose this when they haven't for 30 years!

Bureaucracy at its finest! It has been no issue standing there for all the years previously- why should it suddenly become a concern now? We too have been issued with similar letter for all our plants out on Church Street (The Flower Company). It is ridiculous- they enhance the landscape as does the butcher on queensgate.. It brings character and uniqueness to the old town. We often have people stop and take photos or give nice comments- an attraction for visitors. Highland Council say we can get a free permit as long as we have Public Liability Insurance to the tune of £5M. We have PLI, but not to that value, so we have to withdraw our plants from the street. Never mind the fact that there already stone bollards there already causing obstruction... It's just nonsense. No wonder there are so many vacant commercial properties around the old town- The odds are always against small businesses, no matter how much you try to make your business stand out from the rest- Highland Council will always find a way of knocking you down.

This is just another silly demand from the Council. They should focus on more important issues!

I think the dummy should stay. Been a resident of Inverness longer than the dummys making this decision. Find some real work, is this really a priority for Highland Council? I think they're is more important things to be done/improved in and around Inverness
