Calling general strike (hartal) is a democratic right for a citizen or a political or labor organization in a democratic country. Bangladesh is a prosperous democratic country with a very bright future. Often political parties leverage hartal for their own political motive which does not necessarily help the citizens of Bangladesh. Enforcement of hartal through violent methods is a common tactic in Bangladesh practiced by political parties. Very often this is against the will of the people. Hartal destroys our economy and the hope of a economically sovereign Bangladesh. This petition is to request political parties not to use hartal as a political tool. If you believe in the people of Bangladesh, if you believe in the economic prosperity of Bangladesh, if you believe in 3 million people who sacrificed their life in 1971 independence war, if you believe that your children will live in a poverty free Bangladesh, if you believe in millions of hard working Bangladeshis, please sign this petition. This petition is a voice of 120 million Bangladeshis for a economically and socially prosperous Bangladesh. Let's stop the destructive and violent culture of Hartal and take our country back from the corrupt political dynasties.
