Because the public hearings regarding the environmental impact statement concluded in April, I believe many in Winnebago county were caught unaware because routes through Winnebago were considered alternate and not given full publicity. Citizens of the county feel they did not get a fair hearing in the process.

This railroad will go right thru my neighborhood. It will devalue my property and take up valuable farmland.

This project has the special interest of very few and devastation to many. The current rail system works and needs upgrading, which is in the works and it will become a more efficient rail system. The real railroad companies do not support or have any interest in this project. The GLB is keeping its real interest hidden! Winnebago county country folks have worked for over a century farming these lands, raising generations of families, preserving wildlife, and embracing the country lifestyle. Illinois has become the 2nd largest Bald eagle wintering state next to Alaska. This has a great deal to do with the Rock and Pecatonica Rivers and as well as our wet lands which they nest. We love our land, our homes and our lifestyle. We work hard and take pride in preserving what we have, we pay our dues and never complain or ask for help. We now need to ask our local, state, and federal representatives to stick up for us. We need to come together as a community and block the GLB! Thank You Jim Webster Winnebago County Distract 2 representative for going on record opposing the GLB at tonight's county meeting.
