This is a joke, the customer will suffer with higher fares, and waiting times!!

Most bus lanes are empty, even in the rush hour - their use should be more liberally allocated - not restricted. ie disabled, 2 car occupants, goods vehicles, ALL TAXIS OF ALL DESCRIPTIONS.i

If we cant use bus lanes the reduce our Private Hire Licence. We should all apply for a licence with another council. You are not on our side are you?

Probably one of the more ridiculous ideas Gateshead council have had. What evidence is there to suggest private hire vehicles are clogging up the bus lanes - none I would suggest

Private hire taxis are in just as much a hurry to get passengers to their destination.
It other drivers and vans using the lanes that slows things down. That and traffic lights that are not aligned to let traffic flow without snagging up roads

If this fails I wonder how the council would feel about all private hire going to other councils. They'd loose about £70.000 per year.

Roads are already congested enough without adding another 500private hire cars and as a fare paying passenger I don't want to be paying extra due to Gateshead Councils hair brained scheme.

Crazy scheme to make money.
Discriminating against PH drivers.
Will only lead to more congestion and higher fares for the public.
Even operators have offered to group together to pay for the change of signs at the bus lanes so that the Council doesn't have to pay!

Yet another money making scheme by gmbc who are fully intending on blocking people's journey to work this labour council had better be careful as the people can only take so much it may be time to change
