Stop Gateshead Council Restricting PHV Access To Bus Lanes

This would put smaller private hire firms out of business as would take longer for journeys and larger fares

Pointless will make things for taxi drivers more difficult and why do this taxi fares will go up

The reason people don't use buses is that they are too expensive especially if there's more than one person travelling then using a taxi is cheaper .only the council would come up with such a stupid rule .

You should never bite the hand that feeds you, we PH drivers pay handsomely for our licences, and provide excellent service. Shame on you Gateshead Council.

Private hire cars should have same unlimited use of bus lanes same as Hackney carriage

The decision to change the use of the bus taxi lanes to Hackney carriage only is a bad move by Gateshead council,as both private hire and Hackney carriage both do the same job. And the removal of the private hire access will only increase the cost of a journey for customers as it will make the private hire cars take a longer route to get to pick up and drop off destinations! Bad move Gateshead council you should hang your head in shame!!!!

Taxi drivers should be allowed to use all bus lanes

You like people paying more money for no use of bus lane the meter still runs on waiting time stop robing your public the people who voted you in office

Taxi fares will go up sitting in traffic this is Gateshead council just wanting to make money people's choice to use taxis

I think this decision is ludicrous. It will cause extra congestion on the already congested roads and added costs for taxi users, not to mention the other reasons cited in the petition. Whoever makes the decisions in Gateshead councils offices with regard to traffic, clearly got their qualifications from a Mickey Mouse training school. Some of the decisions would be laughable if they weren't so ridiculous! Get your act together and get the traffic moving, any way necessary. This is not the way to do it and neither are the crazy road works with their even crazier changes to road users. Travelling to work each day is difficult enough without this stupidity adding to the problem.

We pay the same rates as a Hackney and we are also transport the public in the same way if they go through with this then it's going to make our jobs harder to make money which is going to penalise all of us in the trade and also create more traffic at peak times especially since there is more private hire than Hackney carriage taxis

Both Durham and Newcastle allow PHV to use bus lane's. Why must Gateshead be different?

This can't happen for the sake of the ppl who work and live in the area

It's always about the buses!!! I drive a van which I need for work I can't use the buses. They drive about empty most of the day holding up people like myself who need to get places. Let use some common sense let all taxis use the dafty lanes.
