So many of my pets have been injured, suffered or have died. This needs to be changwed and added to be against the law!

I am a cat owner and thankfully I have never had a cat run over but I was a passenger in a car a long time ago when the driver hit the cat. He decided that he wasn't going to stop but after lots of shouting and screaming from me, he was persuaded to go back. The cat was still alive but very badly injured, as we were on a country road with no homes in site we took the cat back to my home and called the RSPCA. Sadly the cat did not make it but they were able to trace its owners because it was chipped. I think all pets should be chipped by law as well.

This should be mandatory. Most people drive round an injured animal. Good luck with this petition

It's disgusting that cat's are treated with such disdain while dogs are given far more consideration. Drivers are legally required to stop if the hit a dog. It should be the same for cats

Having had cats myself i know how heart breaking it is to see your cat in pain and slowing losing their life due to being hit by a car and left to die at the road side and the cat painfully dragging itsself home for help or to be with the people who love it so it can pass away with the love it knows.

No animal should be left to die on the road. While accidents to happen the driver should take the animal to a vet.

2 of my cats have been run over, both survived (unfortunately of has died now (old age)) but I know the heart ache.

Cats are people's babies, they shouldn't be left to suffer on the side of a road and if they are dead the owner deserves to know.

Fortunately , I have never lost one of my cats this way, but the thought of my cat being hit by a driver and never knowing what happened sickens me.
However, I have stopped for several cats (hedgehogs and dogs) that I've spotted alongside the road as I find it impossible to leave them. I will always check a local house or two if nearby, or if nowhere obvious find the nearest vet. It's heartbreaking, only one of these cats has survived, but most probably would have if they had been cared for straight away.

I think it's disappointing that cats are overlooked by this law and it would benefit many if they had the reassurance that if their cat is to be hurt on the road, they will surely be taken to a vet or given immediate help.

I didn't realise this was the case and that drivers didn't have to stop, instead perhaps use them as a target! I am a huge cat lover and would be devasted if anything like this were to happen to my two..,I will happily sign the petition xx

stop for cats!!! My cat was hit and left I found him days later with a broken pelvis and I'm lucky he meowed when I was searching the streets calling his name, It's discusting people can hit a cat and drive off! It's infuriating and ridiculous! I full support this!!!
