I couldn't agree more! My car was hit at the end of last year and was found after by someone else who luckily called the rspca. We were lucky but I know many people who haven't been!!

Cats are part of the family too. Anyone who has lost a cat and never found out what happened to it will know how heartbreaking this is.

Good luck with this. My cat went missing 3 months ago, leafleted, posted on lost pets sites etc even arranged to view dead cats picked up by council, still paying insurance on her (just in case) but know she could've been killed on road & no one bothered. Horrible. She is/was microchipped but not all councils even bother to try checking. That's another area that needs addressing.

I would be devastated if my cat was run over, left at the side of the road and I didn't know what had happened to them.

This is a problem that occurs everyday and heartless drivers do not care. You wouldn't do it to a person so why an animal? Animals should be given equal rights. If you hit an animal you should be responsible,Own up and get it help.Animals become apart of people's family. How would you feel of you lost a beloved family member due to being a hit and run?

thus should be law along with having all cats chipped. I lost my cat in 2011 when he was 15. I contacted pet websites. Cats protection and posted flyers and heard absolutely nothing. I was devastated. I always wonder what happened to him as I never had closure and still live in hope he's still alive. . If it was law to take a cat to a vet if RTA. It would give the cat a chance of survival and worst scenario it would give the owners closure if the cat didn't survive. Although very upsetting, it wouldn't leave the owner left in the dark.

I think drivers should stop when hitting any animal it's disgusting that animals are left to suffer and die in pain

If you hit a cat if course I think it's only fair to take it to the vets you could save it's life or if in a unfortunate accident it does at least the owners can be told. Its cruel if the poor pet in Alice but left to suffer.

I have campaigns for our local Council to collect cats and check them for chips for such a long time. These are our babies. Have respect.
