Should def be law to stop & report if you hit a cat.

The law should be changed, just because it's a cat doesn't mean it has any less rights. A cat could be someone's beloved family member and the not knowing is awful. Proud owner to 9 beautiful feline family members, 2 of which survived getting hit by a car luckily.

equality; cats deserve the same treatment, respect and rights as dogs. Make it legal.

I totally agree with this petition and this it should be law that if you hit any animal you MUST stop report the incident and make sure effort has been made to locate the owners by having the cat taken to a local vets.

I dont know how anyone could be aware they have knocked a cat over and do nothing about it - they are a member of your family - just the same as a Dog.

We too lost our Beautiful girl 7th June 15, she was hit and left. She was found dead on the road outside by our daughter. It is truly devastating. Cats are family too, the law needs to change!

This should be made to happen. I lost a cat after being hit by a car, the woman driving got out of her car, looked at the cat and drove off. Thankfully the person who lived in the house where it happened cleaned her up and kept her until someone contacted me to go and see if it was one of our cats. If it was a person that had been hit they would stop and see if they needed help, but if it's an animal they just keep going, this is not right.

If you knock a dog over, the law compels you to stop. It should be the same for cats.

I now just how you feel last night my cat was attacked by a staff an the owner was just like sorry my dog don't like cats then walked off now my cat is missing and possibly very badly injured an she was pregnant too x

I was surprised to learn that bin men pick up dead cats and dogs and throw them in the rubbish, shouldn't they be checked first at the vet for microchip and the owner informed instead of families having no closure on their missing pet. I know I still look for my pet years after he disappeared he could be dead or living somewhere else

Totally agree with this. Surely it's considered cruelty to leave an animal in pain to die.
