This has happened to me with two different cats at two different houses, both cats I had since I was little. I now have two kittens and don't even like them going outside because I'm frightened it will happen again :( I've stopped to help a cat which I saw got hit and spent all night trying to sort it out, unfortunately he didn't make it but I didn't more than the horrible person who just drove off!

Cats and any other animal deserve MORE respect!!! All domestic animals should be taken to a vet in case chipped as owners need to know what has happened to their pets .. Also ALL animals that are only injured should be RUSHED to a vet and be treated. How would you like to be left to die in the road??? How would you like a member of your family left to DIE in the road??? This is how we feel about our pets and wildlife!!!!

Fingers crossed for this petition because I strongly agree this should be a law! A cat is the same as any other pet. Take it to the vets asap and it may even save a few more cats lives or put to sleep peacefully instead of crying with pain!

My cat was run over and sadly lost his life he was just over a year,but the driver did contact me straight away credit to him ,but some drivers are not that thoughtful ,so this has got to be enforced .

Great job. Our cat was hit and left with a fracture from his shoulder to elbow which needed amputation. Like your cat he managed to drag himself home after a full week of being in that condition.

i have stopped when i have seen cats left in the road when they have been run over fact i have stop for birds or any animal there should be a law that if you run any animal over you stop and see to it or take it to a vets there is no need to let them suffer

Charlie was my two year old boy and he was run down almost a year ago. I found him in the middle of the road as I left for work one morning. Absolutely broke my heart that he'd been left there. He had a bright red collar so clearly had a home and a family.

I completely agree! Something needs to be done. But I'm one of those people that if I come across a cat on the side of the road or witnessed the accident I stop and take straight to vets. It's horrible for children to see x

I've said this for a very long time why treat a cat differently.
It's sad that people actually can just drive off knowing they have ran over someone pet it's awful! They should be ashamed.
