I think this should be made law. If a cat is hit by a car and the cat is chipped, the owner will have some reassurance that their beloved pet wasn't left for dead on the side of the road.

My cat was hit bye 3 different cars out side my house and not one driver stopped I was deversated x

My cat Cookie was run over & killed not far from my home 4 years ago.. The only reason I knew what happened to her was that she was scanned at dog kennels, they contacted me. She had been found dead & left, the street cleaner notified council. I was so upset to lose her this way, I was also upset that whoever hit her did not help her in any way.

Too many people run cats over and just drive off......surely if their conscience doesn't say stop, then the law should!!

Please let's bring this law in, so many cat are getting hurt and with a vet close by they may have some chance off survival if this law is brought in

It's illegal to not stop for a dog, so it should be the same for cats!

Totally agree, I lost my Maggie on the 23rd December and another cat Charlie 15yrs ago! It's awful that they don't stop, I couldn't live with myself!

I have had a number if cats murdered by cars over the years and say murdered b ed cause that's what it is Murder.

I own 5 cats myself and would be devastated if somebody hit one of them with a car and just left them there!!
