Micro chips are are only effective as a way of being notified your pet is injured or killed if the law is changed to ensure drivers are required to stop and take them to a vet if they run them over. I;ve heard of cats being left to die, alone with horrific injurys or seen them being put into black bags and disposed of with the rubbish. This is someone's loved pet. They will look for them until they know for sure what happenened. Please chasnge the law so drivers take cats to vets so they can be treated and the owner informed

My cats are like my family yet if one is hurt or killed on the road no one is responsible. If it were a human it'd be different, but it shouldn't be.

Please let this happen as I would hate for my cat and anybody else's cat to go in this way.As they are family pets x

Cats should have the same consideration as dogs as they are still a families pets. Vehicles must stop and either advise the owner if there is a collar tag or be dropped at a local vets.

My cats are my life and my family. Why are they treated like something insignificant and brushed away like a fly. Its cruel, neanderthal like from all these uncaring creatures in goverment that supposed to work for us and put what the public want into practice. not what you decide on a whim we need. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER and listen. Keep our fur family members safe, ALL animals have the right to be respected. Humans are animals too dont forget, we are not more important.

Agree so much with this. A pet is like family and are living have feelings to. No animal or pefson should have to suffer

If animals aren't allowed to live in our world without being regulated and going through the system, it stands to reason that they have the right to immediate assistance when something goes wrong too. Stop making it about the money, they are children of this Earth too and they're entitled to basic and humane rights.

I think that they should change the law on driving and killing the poor cats.

Cats are just as important as dogs and should be treated the same. They should also be microchipped. It will be law in April for all dogs to be chipped.. should be that same for cats.

Cats are pets and family members same as dogs, so if you hit a cat you should be made to at least take the cat to the vets

I lost one of my cats when I lived in Portsmouth, a taxi driver hit her and drove off. A neighbour came to tell me, I was and still am devastated at losing her.

I find this very true as well, I lost my cat maxie when I was a child and I was devastated and children cannot understand death very well. Old age they do understand or illness but not by someone who is heartless to run over a cat, maybe if it was an accident but they should pay for the damages too. To this day I still won't run over anything and do anything to slow down or stop as I think in the back of my mind that might be someone's pet.
