70 trucks with their engines running all night. 24 hours, 365 days a year. Noise, stench, oil-stained asphalt. What's not to like? Why does the County have Highway 14 in its sights as a place to sacrifice?

Prostitution, drugs, toxic fumes and disgusting food, noise, air pollution, light pollution, traffic, crummy jobs, ugly buildings, water use in the desert, more road construction and delays. Even if corporate-serving buddies built the stupid, dangerous new Double Diamond interchange just for them and their ilk, don't let them get away with it! All about money.

Hello. I'm writing to add my voice against the proposed Rancho Viejo Blvd/Hwy 14 truck stop. This intersection truly is inappropriate for this kind of a thing. Rancho Viejo Blvd. is the entryway into a RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD and is heavily used at certain times of the day, especially in the morning, to get kids to school and us grown-ups to work! A MUCH more appropriate intersection would be the I-25 and 599 intersection where heavy truck traffic will not interfere with residents day to day. You all, I am sure, know how slowly trucks get up to speed coming out of a gas station and how slowly they get up to speed on roads and entry/exit ramps off the expressway. Seriously, let's think about what actually WORKS--in practical terms. This is not an issue of rights, but rather of good planning--civic engineering.
Please think ahead to the future as well, thinking about how the residential area of Rancho Viejo is growing. Traffic issues will only worsen as this occurs. Please also bear in mind that there are two elementary schools, one high school and one college (IAIA) and a facility for disabled individuals (Easter Seals) that are reached by many people via Rancho Viejo Blvd.
Please, again, let's all use our native intelligence, our common sense where this issue is concerned and find a better location for the proposed truck stop.

Pilot/Flying J is already seeking variances; that is very concerning- added to other concerns about completely them subverting our neighborhood.

The truck stop MUST be stopped. I came to Rancho Viejo for the beauty, peace and quiet. A truck stop does not fit into RV's image! It will be a huge environmental and public health hazard. And why is it needed when there's a truck stop 9 miles off 25 going towards ABQ. Say NO to the incredible greed of the owner who wants to sell the land to Pilot/Flying J. The health of our community and our environment is at stake and too big a price to pay for someone's greed. Tell everyone you know to sign this petition and come to the July 18 meeting. The County officials that we elected need to do the right thing and stop this for the good of Santa Fe and for the health and well being of our community.

I oppose the truck stop for the heavy congestion it will create and the potential crime that facilities like this attract-especially close to a community like Rancho Viejo

There is already too much traffic on Rancho Viejo Blvd. due to the community college. This truck stop will be a blight to the entrance of the Rancho Viejo community. It should be located further from residential areas.

As a resident of Ranchk viejo I am against the Truck Stop. On reason I moved to Santa Fe was for the clean air, the beautiful night sky and quiet beauty of the ranch. This will all be destroyed with the addition of this truck stop.
