Rockaway has more than its fair share of homeless shelters and adult homes housing an inordinate amount of people with mental issues Creating an environment ripe for crime and continually threatening our children’s saftey. Enough is enough!!

Homeless shelters, public housing etc should not be on beachfront property. Only in nyc and Atlantic City does this occur on the east coast. Beachfront property attracts tourists which generate money. It makes no sense! Haven’t we endured enough from Sandy! We rebuilt to make our neighborhood better. !

1. Not enough possible employment since there are no jobs to the south ( ocean) and no jobs to the north ( bay)
2. Two blocks from high school
3. 3 blocks from junior high school
4. This community has been decimated by the city for unwanted halfway houses and shelters for too long.

I live 50 feet from this warehouse. Our otherwise quiet and safe block will be compromised by this shelter. Our pleasant quality of life will be taken away. The close proximity to the surrounding schools will cause an unsafe environment. There aren't any jobs available in Rockaway as it is so how can our area benefit 120 men to transition into our society? What I see happening is my block will be overrun with panhandlers begging for money everytime I or my neighbors leave our homes. Putting 120 men in a dorm setting is not the answer to their problems. It is going to cause many problems in an otherwise safe environment. I feel that the plans to place 120 men in this warehouse without community input is very sneaky. If the men placed there have to spend all day outside the building, where will they stay? Out in the cold? Rockaway is not the place for this!
