We are tired of being a dumping ground. There are already homeless facilities, nursing homes, low income housing projects on a peninsula with poor transportation and high unemployment. We have done our share of helping.

Rockaway does not have what it takes for a homeless person to rebuild themselves. The peninsula does not offer much transportation options for them to move around. Jobs will be difficult to find.. A lot of other issues surrounding homelessness such as drug and alcohol abuse and pedophiles mental illness are a concern as I live directly opposite this location. I have kids who frequent 101 in transit to school or practice. How abt place them on Park ave where they have access to multiple train lines.

WHY does the city of NY treat Rockaway like a dumping ground? The people of Rockaway are SICK of it!! Rockaway is still trying to get back on its feet since Superstorm Sandy, why are you trying to undo all the good work that has been done???

The Rockaway peninsula has borne a disproportionately amount of facilities for the needy and mentally ill. A review prior to awarding a contract and location would clearly illustrate the current situation in these neighborhoods

Really? This community still hasn’t been protected from another Superstorm Sandy situation but you want add another homeless shelter in 6 months? Something isn’t right here. No shelter til you help the people who live here first!

How can the NYC estimate our houses are worth 1 - 2million dollars if there is a homeless shelter next door. Tell the Mayor he can’t have it both ways. Putting a homeless shelter in neighborhood with so many children is a recipie for disaster.
