I think that the homeless shelter is better served somewhere else. We are still struggling to get back on our feet after hurricane Sandy. There are small businesses opening up every year . To put this homeless shelter in that area would severely affect the neighborhood and those businesses. Rockaway has its share of homeless rehabilitation centers and nursing homes. I think if you put that shelter in our neighborhood you will find people moving out and that neighborhood is a very good tax base for the city. If people start moving out property values go down and so does its taxes.

As a blue collar hard working resident of Rockaway where everyone who lives here is the same as me and works very hard to keep this community as crime free as possible this is the absolute worst idea I’ve ever heard of.
