Stop Dumping

Rockaway is overflowing with halfway houses and nursing homes. Lets remember the thousands of families who live here. They have invested $ into this community. This shelter (men's halfway house) devalues their property.

We have way more than our share of homeless centers already in Rockaway. The government totally takes advantage of this neighborhood. It is not fair. Please stop another homeless shelter from being placed here. This neighborhood is finally making a long awaited come back.

Please don’t put a shelter here! It doesn’t address the homeless since there are no services. Only a school which is a block away. Stop dumping people!! Help them instead!

5000 children within a 5 block radius! Too close for the comfort of Rockaway Park families!!

Stop dumping on Rockaway, especially now that the area is going through a revitalization . We have enough shelters and half-way houses. How about a new hospital, or beach replenishment?

Let’s stop this shelter!! How can a shelter be built in “6 months” but some rockaway residents are still not back in their homes since hurricane Sandy???

We don't need another shelter! Besides, it's too close to the schools!

Time to tell these so called "professionals" in Public Sevice (past, present & future) that they've got "urban planning & rehabilitation" all wrong. They need to start by up-lifting the human spirit by providing those in need with the suitable social, economic & humane environments. "Dumping" on The Rockaways has never been the solution and never will. They just don't learn...from past history. People in need of shelter need more than just a roof over their heads. How, who, from where, when are they, the homeless, are going to be supported?

Using Rockaway as a dumping ground has to stop. How can this Warehouse be turned over so quickly when it has taken tax paying Rockaway residents over 6 years to move back into their own homes after Sandy! The DHS and developer need to be audited.
