We must preserve the island and its ecosystem for future generations.

This is dangerous for our children. Someone almost hit our 3 yr old not paying attention trying to squeeze through a space as the tide was rising without paying attention.

I agree. We should protect our environment, regardless of location, from needless and harmful encroachment. Thank You for raising the alarm and raising awareness surrounding this issue. Informing, educating, and legislating are all steps in the right direction.

There should be no driving on this pristine beach. It destroys the wildlife.

I can't believe the county commissioners thought it was a good idea to open beach driving when there's a national movement to protect our seashores. We have a bunch of Neandertals running this county.

Motorized vehicles belong on the roads not the beaches! They tear up the beaches and dunes and are very dangerous to people, children, animals, birds, turtles, other reptiles and their nests. There has already been accident of people being run over in the past, so, WHY HAS THIS TAKEN SO LONG TO MAKE THIS A LAW???? I guess it will pass when it’s someone, more important than a regular citizen, that it actually effects, before something gets done!! My parents had been here since 1970, they complained about it then!!

Stop the disregard for protecting the environment and safety of the beach/dunes. There’s a reason 90% of US coastal communities prohibit driving on the beach.

Aside from being damaging to the wildlife and environment, beach driving in this area is irresponsible, unnecessary, and dangerous.

I stand with the locals to stop people from driving on the beach. But if this isn’t officially stopped, please, at least, stop this practice dying the nesting time for the turtles. They deserve significant consideration.

Protect the lives of children. Protect people. Protect wildlife. Gas exhaust fumes don’t belong on a beach either.

This is horrible for the environment. I saw a jeep the other day going at 30 miles per hour and there were children playing in the area.

No. Cars belong on roads not the beach.
