I’ve paid out hundreds of pounds for many auditions. It’s totally unfair and excludes many.

Definitely unfair on all performing arts students, especially when no feedback is given to those rejected

It's important for auditions to be open for everyone. Acting biased towards the middle classes at the moment.

As a working class actor I found this a real barrier and it limited my applications due to the financial strain. Drama schools are screening a huge proportion of applicants out based on financial background with this process not talent.

Drama schools can never provide a detailed breakdown of why fees are paid. It leads me to believe that this is to fund the course, which is not fair to expect audition participants (who are not even offered feedback) to pay for this! I have always thought that fees are abysmal, as you would not be expected to pay this in any other profession.

I didn't know about this before seeing this petition... I fail to see any reason for having to pay anyone for an interview though. It's prohibitive to the less well off students.

Teacher training applicants do not pay for their extensive interviews - why should performing arts applicants? This is not a level playing field.

It would be a shame to have people held back veery one should feel free to be auditioned for their talent. Opening up orotunitirs is good and needed in this world. Please stop audition fees to give everyone a chance.

The drama school audition fee was a huge barrier for me when I wanted to audition for drama school. I could only afford to audition for 2 as I didn’t live in London, meaning I didn’t get the opportunity to be seen by so many others.

It is an outrage that so many people are excluded from taking up a career in the arts due to their financial status.
