Okay, Disney has acquired the rights to LucasFilm, the owners of the Star Wars franchise, and have announced the creation of Episode VII, VIII, and IX (and potentially more films somewhere along the road). While there are some who are exited about this, I think it's a very bad idea. For one: Star Wars is a franchise that I feel ended perfectly, Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi was the perfect place to end the series, making any more films is just going to ruin the great legacy these films had. Yes, the Prequels had their flaws, but their were good moments in them, and the story is one complete story, we don't need to see what happens after Episode VI, that's what the Expanded Universe is for. It would be like making Lord Of The Rings 4 or Harry Potter and the Tacked On Sequel. Speaking of the expanded universe, these new films are going to be a completely new story, not based on any existing book/comic/video game in the Star Wars Canon, so I imagine they will render those non canon, which is unfortunate since there are some really great stories in the expanded universe. I'd like for as many people as possible to sign this petition, as I don't want my childhood to be further tainted by unnecessary sequels to my favourite film series of all time (remember Alien Resurrection and how tacked on that felt? This will be similar to that), and maybe we can stop these films being made, so sign and tell all your friends.
