Security is important but it should be imposed on all.
I do not feel safer if externals are controlled while officials (or our MEPs) are not. Then, it is a pretext of security and an apparent act of discrimination

Constant screening of people already vetted only because they have a red card instead of blue..people with blue cards (officials) pass without any screening! Security either is for everyone or for none!

Sure enough. If you are red badge, well, you can be a terrorist. If you are blue badge, there is NO WAY you can be a terrorist. If someone really wants to bomb the EP, doesn't have to go inside to do it. Can target some of the columns at the entrance and destroy a big part of the building.

There should be a third badge type (between blue and red) for external people coming everyday and that can be trusted ( agreeing a trust test ) so that the external person could avoid the security checks (like blue badge)

Fully agree, I remember fifteen years ago, security wanted to apply same mesures for officials too!! At that time I resisted and administration took away measures.

Why should we also show our ID card in addition to the badge when the security guards barely look at the officials badge?

I think there should be a distinction between external staff that work 8(.5) hours every day in the EP, and external staff that occasionally enter EP (e.g repair technicians).
Airport-style security checks are aggravating for the former (repeated checks, possibly multiple times per day) but maybe should be maintained for the latter. Note also that we should be ready to accept background checks if this measure is (ever) adopted.

I fully agree. Some form of certification could easily be given by the external's employer to guarantee that externals are not potential terrorists. In addition, removing a belt can trigger situations of embarrassment and should never be imposed. And finally, the treatment difference between internal and external badges is discriminatory by law. This has to stop.
