Stop Development of Large Senior Living Facility Across from Beechwood Farms

We chose to live in Indiana Twp specifically because of the green space here. Its presence, coupled with close proximity to the city, gives residents the best of both worlds. It is distressing that this board of supervisors does not seem to share the community's regard for the preservation of our natural resources as evidenced by their support of fracking near our schools and homes, zoning violations / variances, and unsightly and destructive building plans.

Indiana Township gave tentative approval for the Waters Assisted Living facility on July 9th. Despite overwhelming evidence that this development violates their own zoning policy, they approved it 3-2. Please help in any way you can to stop this development in our community by alerting as many people as you can to contribute to the go fund me page or spread the word that this project is scheduled to move forward. There are many areas of Indiana township this project could be built and NOT violate the zoning requirements as well as destroying natural habitats and the Beechwood farm area.

No to the location of the senior care facility.

In full agreement with this petition This is not the place for a facility like this. A senior facility should be placed near hospitals, medical services and major traffic arteries for the benefit of the residents, their families and service providers. Traffic, noise, light pollution, the degradation of the natural environment and community are all concerns.

I love this area because it IS residential and green space is aplenty. I vote NO. Build in an area where neighborhoods aren't affected. I moved to the township to get away from city life!

Hard no Bill 447 is in House presently proposing Penn Dot removes invasives and plants all natives on roads in Pa. Ohio has done this, legislation passed in New Jersey , fully illustrating the threat invasive species pose coupled with need for native planting to absorb the human footprint destroying habits for wildlife. Our land is protected at Beechwood . It is healthy, clean, supporting habitat in air and ground in a class by itself. Paramount for Indiana Township to not disturb land near Beechwood . lawn chemicals, weed killers, tic sprays, mosquito sprays, lawn everything will kill all inhabitants that visit from across the street. Traffic will negatively impact air quality, noise pollution, water content . Plan this needed project in Ice Cream World where it is not adjacent to the most pristine environment we hold inside this township . I vote NO adamantly Weezie Walter

The proposed development would have many harmful impacts as outlined in the petition. The various public agencies involved with reviewing this request should not allow for this development to proceed as proposed.

I do not want this in my community!

I have been a lifelong resident of O’Hara, Fox Chapel and Indiana township. We are fortunate to have such a beautiful natural area so close to the city and all the amenities it offers. This is what makes our area desirable and unique. Also of consideration is the rain water run off and drainage. The trail there goes down to Od Mill and the stream there drains into Squaw Run. Our area has had significant flooding and land slides recently. Also of concern is emergency access and increased traffic on our local roads. Centers like this should be built in areas with easy access to medical facilities such as in the new development underway straddling Aspinwall and Sharpsburg near St. Margaret’s.

Such a development so close to Beechwood will have serious repercussions for the environment. Safe, comfortable communities for our seniors are important; but given their size and environmental impact, they can hardly be classified as purely residential places. Runoff from the parking lot (environmental) and a dangerous blind curve for seniors to navigate as they leave their facility (safety) are just two reasons why this is a terrible idea. I think the developers and Indiana Township care far more about growth and profit than the seniors they would be asking to live in this facility.

I run this trail offen. I would be sad to see it go. How can a structure like this even be approved?

We do not want this facility built in our community. Beechwood Farms is an important environmental property used by thousands of Pennsylvanians. This facility will bring traffic and pollution into Beechwood and our community.

Hard no. Obey zoning laws.

The zoning rules are there to protect the neighborhood and to prevent bad decisions. If you have to make exceptions to those rules, you are either not protecting the neighborhood or making bad decisions or both. The rules either mean something or they mean nothing.

This development is inconsistent with the current Indiana Township Zoning laws and would negatively impact multiple areas of adjacent already occupied land. Building of this large a "campus" will create burdens on traffic, wildlife, families and lands in the adjoining areas. Clearly the scope of the project is much too big for the space available.

This would be a complete disaster to develop this beautiful space.

I am very opposed to anything being built in the area!

This is unacceptable development at an already problematic intersection when considering elementary school and other development
