Extra support should not be questioned for these children. They work so hard to keep up. Sometimes it's the only thing that will keep them in mainstream education. We must support our children and their future.

Providing support for for those who need it should not be treated as a luxury which can be jettisoned when funds are tight.

It isn’t the kids with complex additional needs that will suffer, they will be supported still. It’s the next tier down. The kid who is a few years behind in reading or maths, or who struggles to understand what they are supposed to be doing. They are the ones who will loose out. Teachers can’t teach effectively without support for those kids.

The Scottish government have challenged schools to ‘close the attainment gap’ of the most deprived kids (of which Orkney has plenty). Cutting SfL makes this almost impossible for class teachers, who are being asked to achieve more, with less. They can’t support all kids to achieve without support to do so.

This is an absolute disgrace! How many of these councillors who made this decision have been in a classroom recently?! EVERY child needs support at different stages throughout their school years, additional needs or not. Highland Council have seen sense, come on OIC!!

These cutbacks should not happen, our teachers and
children need support every day, things will deteriorate very quickly without this vital staff support, please sign & stop the planned cuts.

Support is the word both for teachers and pupils. Do not have cutbacks in this area. All children need the support to be the best they can be.

Do not cut the funding for Support Assistants! They are a brilliant support and do a wonderful job! Cutting the support would not only be detrimental to the education of those who need it but also for their confidence, social skills etc! Please rethink this
