I have three children in our Tennessee school system who are frustrated with common core. It is not in the best interest of our children and must be stopped!

I am a HS and College Graduate I continue to carry a 4.0 grad point. There is something terribly wrong when I struggle to help my 3rd grade grandson with his homework. We are now the 12th freest nation in the world..let's NOT aim for further destruction of our Country by destroying our Educational System PLEASE!!

Just spoke with Sen. Jack Johnson's office (3.14.14) and they are going to get back with me on the Common Core bill to delay it for 2years from the House bill that he supports (I think I missed something from what happened on Wednesday). I did say to them, tell Sen. Johnson to support SB1602. They are still going to call me back. Oh and cannot wait to give Rep. Sargent a piece of my mind!!!!! And find out what happened. I'll keep you updated.

I am not pleased with the things that common core is teaching my children. They need to learn at a pace that they can understand, I mean come on AKGEBRA to a 2nd grader you got to be kidding me

Common core is the start to dumbing down our kids so they will listen to whatever the government tells them to do.

We pulled our 4th and 5th graders out of public school and started homeschooling in January. Best decision we ever made! Common Core has got to go!!

I am sick and tired of my children being used as guinea pigs. I only have one son in school now, age 9 and his self esteem has been beaten down enough by this Common Core crap. I am told by his teacher that they are not supposed to provide additional help which is absurd! Often, we parents have no clue as to how to help our children. I have a college education and find it frustrating that so many of the symbols and terms in mathematics have completely changed. I look for one of the largest class action law suits to be initiated when this is all said and done because parents should stand for the rights of their children. I say "No More Common Core." It's really more of a bad reflection toward our educators than our children. If my child fails 3rd grade this year I will take legal action.

All of my children have struggled with math. I too remember my child crying like a baby and wondering why she can't understand it. As a parent it hurts that we are unable to help them. I remember helping my son and him saying my way is so much easier and why didn't his teacher explain it like that. I also remember him saying that he had to show his work and it was not the steps the teacher wanted them to take. I ALSO remember that every answer was wrong because he did not show the proper steps. It's not easier, nor is it making them smarter. It's frustrating them and making them feel inadequate.

My grandson is failing math in 4th grade, a subject that he normally has excelled in. It's sad to see him try to do homework and cry with frustration. Now I hear the school is having classes to teach parents the math methods, so they can help their children with the homework. This is ridiculous! Someone needs to do something,

Stop this and get black to basics (the 3 Rs) This and the testing madness is causing undue stress on kids. It makes kids hate school and the love of learning is gone.

Common Core is bad for teachers, parents and, most especially, students. One size does not fit all. Children are individual human beings with different strengths and weaknesses. STOP teaching for testing and allow our teachers to teach children, not robots. PLEASE repeal common core. If not, Many of us will lose faith in the public school system completely.

Stop this nonsense! Common Core stinks. My children are being taught to take tests well instead of true, whole learning.

Common Core is a train wreck. I cannot begin to tell you how discombobulated, test heavy, and counter-intuitive this entire mess is and the huge gaps in learning it creates. As an educator, I hate being forced to teach it. As a parent, I am disturbed my kids are being forced-fed it. I hope and pray it goes away QUICKLY. Sadly, I have to sign this anonymously as my overzealous administration would no doubt make me sorry for publicly posting this.

I think the work that is put on our children is rediculous! In the near future, all children are going to be so disheartened with school. I think if half the politicians that are pushing for this had to do the work put on these students they would be changing their minds. Wake up people! Think of our children instead of yourselves. This is so very hard on our hard working teachers as well.
