I would like to say, as a college educated father of six-year old twins, that these standards are utterly ridiculous. They purport to teach critical thinking skills, a noble goal, except that they don't do any such thing. They are arbitrarily complex, and that complexity is completely devoid of the meaning or logic that might actually assist in the development of these skills. My experience has been admittedly brief, but my initial impression of these exercises is that they're similar to asking a child to design a maze; the design will certainly be complicated, but it will be complicated without any underlying reason or purpose.

We must stop this. My son who is 9 and always loved school was in tears this morning because he doesn't understand how to do the fractions common core way. He's being asked to test for gifted until this crap came along. I've been so busy and I only paid partial attention and now this crap is here and the teachers don't even understand how detrimental it is to the kids. Ugh!!!

PLEASE wake up and see what common core is doing to our kids and to our entire education system. Common Core is a complete disservice to our children, the future of our nation. Teachers as well are being forced to instruct what they don't even believe themselves. Its a complete shame and makes our state look so poor and behind on education.

Stop making our young students and the future leaders of America dumb, illogical, and mentally intelligent below the rest of the world. Stop forcing our teachers, who want to see student grow, to have to teach idiotic processes to our children and force them to make our students feel stupid and loose self esteem. Remember the commercial 'A mind is a terrible thing to waste'? That is the slogan and the ideals and what the Common Core is designed to accomplish, not to abolish. Americans are above Common Core. Did the brilliant minds of past Americans learn by Common Core? Did they achieve going to the moon, advanced technology, advanced medical breakthroughs by Common Core? They used the old fashion way, studied, memorized, didn't have to guesstimate instead of solving for the real answer. Common Core destroys all of this and our children. Those supporting Common Core are illogical, do not want America to have a future, and what to destroy our children both mentally and emotionally. Stop Common Core!

Our Governor must be ignorant of the ramifications of Common Core to have signed off on it.

This way of learning is not helping my kids... TOTALLY against it... What happen to simple math? Get with it.

Just found out that they've done away with D and F grades, just PN, progress needed, in elementary report cards. After having to reteach math to my sixth grader so she can actually solve the problems, where is this going exactly and why are the parents the last to know.

Forcing common core in our schools is an justice to our kids and our country. Be gone with it!!!

Big government needs to stay out of our business. Let Kansas decide what our needs are. This must be stopped now!

For the first time I see my son disliking school and not understanding what he's learning...and it's because of common core...

I watch my children cry and get frustrated with math because they get right answer, but because they didn't do it the common core way it is counted wrong. We have to stop common core.

Common core is so stupid, and it's nothing more than the liberals pushing their agenda. I've had to correct my daughter many times on stuff they have taught her in school about history, The Constitution, and math. If she comes to me with math problems, I show her how I was taught to do it, and her math teacher is fine with that, as long as she shows her work.
