Our children- OUR responsibility to educate, protect:. Curriculum & oversight, standards and personal information belong to the PEOPLE not federal gov or private profiteering organizations.

he Petition We reject the Federal Government's intrusion into our education system and want control over what is taught in our classroom returned to our state and local school boards. • Common Core removes control of our state k-12 education standards from Kansas and puts it in the hands of private trade organizations who wrote and copyrighted the standards and who are not accountable to the public which pays for their implementation.

As the spouse of a teacher I can see where Common Core has been an absolute failure. Students spend more classroom time preparing for testing than they do actually learning. Learning is an experience and not something you "drill" into a child's head. With teacher evaluations based on performance and terms set forth by the federal government, it is simply a recipe for failure. We have lost so much ground since this initiative was put in place back in 2009/2010 and the future of our nation is now suffering. Please stop Common Core now and let's look after the future of our children and stop making education a political initiative.

2+2=4. It is time for all Americans to get involved and stop the New World Order. Break the chains of this nation-wide coma. It starts with education. If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

My son can multiply numbers and check his answers using long division. He's 9. He does not need to spend 3 hours a night trying to figure out a multiplication problem using mental math, estimated, columns, rectangles, or any other kinds of grids to solve a problem that takes him seconds. It's ridiculous. He agrees.

I think common core is failing. One because parent's don't know what it is to teach or help our own kids. Two because it makes everything more difficult. I don't think it makes for more thinking it just turns in all into a big mess. I want the No child left behind back, also the way we were taught.

Common core is not the answer to educational issues. Strong families and strong values are the answer. Stop testing and start building the family up!

My grandson , a first grade student, cried during math class from frustration . He is a very bright boy. I am a former teacher and helped raise this child since he was 4 months old. The curriculum for math is inappropriate and confusing. We must not allow Common Core curriculum to be taught to our children.

Common Core is literally child abuse via education.

As a former math teacher (pre-algebra through calculus) am appalled by this. My son is 14 and advanced in math...which he now hates due to this program. This needs to stop for our kids...for they are the future.

Anyone with children or grandchildren should educate themselves on this totally absurd idea of how our children should be taught. Youtube is an excellent place to start seeing & learning how 1 man and a few small groups have taken complete control of the United States education system, and the decaying way they propose to teach our children. I am 67 and stayed involved in my son's education while he grew. He is now a COO of a global company in New York so I feel I did well in my efforts. My only grandchild is 5 and started school 3 weeks ago. This is when I first became aware of Common Core and immediately smelled something rotten! PLEASE enlighten yourselves on this matter and learn as much as you can. Also PLEASE fight this 'tooth & nail' for the benefit of our young people now and for generations to come... THEY are the ones depending on you! Thank you for reading this.

Thank God for Common Core. Issues like this help expose the weak-kneed sudo conservatives like Brownback. CC is not teaching, it is indoctrinating our kids into a "big goverment" mindset that guarantees they will vote "Democrat".

Education should be taught at the local level, not the federal level, any supposed "free" society such as we are suppose to be, would and should embrace this concept.
