Please stop common core

There is so much I oppose in Common Core I don't know where to begin, but please stop polluting and destroying the education of our kids with this terrible curriculum! Thank you!!

Get out of our lives and our children's lives . We in Kansas know what is needed in our children's education.

We demand the release of all 468,510+ student's in the state of Kansas from the hostage perpetrator, known as The Federal Government! Get out AND stay out you filthy bums!

Common Core has been devastating for my 6th grader, Brandon. We are in UDS 232 (DeSoto) and the curriculum was implemented to him in 2nd grade. For children who do not fit in the box, who are middle to lower end students, as Brandon, the end result has been a disaster. In 2nd grade they were expected to learn multiple step ways to do one very simple math problem, but not one way, 3 different ways to learn the same simple math problem, all within 3 days. No basic math memorization of facts were given. Skipped all of that and went straight into critical thinking math that was way over all of their heads and not age appropriate to be teaching stated by many educational experts. Not tested prior and not even written by people with educational backgrounds. Sold by for profit companies all getting their hands in the cookie jar in the expsense of all of our children. Our children have been forced into this failed experiment. For Brandon and many of his classmates the damage has been done but it is time to make a stand and say enough is enough. For the top students, they were able to at least get throught it all and their parents simply just did not see the damage that was being done because their children did not struggle. However, those children are still lacking the basics and it will eventually show up. For many students this caused anxiety, frustration, and them totally shutting down. So many tears at night over the years by so many children. Even them hating the very same math they had really showed interest and promise in early years. Parents need to back their children, push them, be positive about what they are learning. Well I can tell you what many of us parents started doing, we took a stand. Would simply crossed a big X on the homework, sent it back with a note saying "too hard and not educational age appropriate" for them. The sad thing is the teachers didn't even fight us. The federal government has no business in how or what our schools teach.

Please get rid of this evil from our schools.

Education should be something that Parents have a say in, when it comes to their children.

We should not let the federal government make curriculum decisions for Kansas kids.

Return education back to parents and their communities, return our education to its former success, and return knowledge-based education back to the curriculum.

Let local state and teachers decide what to teach, how, and when. Let teachers teach again. And stop the overabundance of testing.

Kansas needs to control our education standards, no one else.

My child was a 4.0 student until the implementation of common core, now he struggles , shuts down at school and is failing. Please put an end to this for the sake of our children!

I support the bill to repeal Common Core In Kansas! Please get rid of it as soon as possible! I have three children ages 24, 25, and 15. My older children were in school before Commom core. My youngest child is being taught the Common Core Curriculum. We don't like it at all!! The standards are lower, the curriculum less rigorous, lots of bad reading material passed off as literature. Please get rid of it ASAP!!
