This is more "dumbing down" of our youth. I have been told by several teachers it will NOT advance the education of our students. What ever happened to "reading, writing and arithmetic" AND firing poor teachers. Keep the federal government OUT of our schools. These decisions should be made locally.

NO common core in Kansas, one of the last bastions of sanity in the United States. If Obama is for it, then we have to know it is not good for America

My 9 yr old has this in her school and she is struggling with math. When I try to help her, explaining the easy way to get an answer, she gets more confused because that is not how they teach with common core. You should not teach kids to use 20 steps to figure out 17-8.

The government has no right to control or be in the lives of our children, I also know the parents have that right because they know what is best for them

Don't give the government control over our children's education. Parents know what are best for their children!

I have three children in public school and one that will be there shortly. I have seen first hand how poorly the math lessons are constructed. Even the first grade math lessons have frustrated the teacher, the parents and worst of all, the students. Please give the classroom back to the teachers.

I am declaring that I reject the intrusion of the federal government into our education system. Common Core is nothing more than an attempt to do just that, without authority in the Constitution. I have seen evidence that show that this was not a state initiated program but rather the Department of Education joined up with many other NGO that stand to profit from such an incursion into education. I declare that I want Common Core stopped this year before further damage can be done.

Common Core is not a better solution, each school district needs to have its own policy since kids in big cities have more adverse students than rural schools.

Why be dumbed down so as to be common, indeed? This is furtherance of anti-America propaganda to destroy the ability of the electorate to choose politicians wisely. It will make the final takeover our nation, its Constitution and way of life possible.

Common Core = F- *It is Failing our children and is going to take a long time to rebound from the many negative effects impacting them, including emotional and psychological. Even if it is removed, they have lost the last couple of years of their education. Too much focus on preparing for next year instead of now and today! Good luck with State Standard Tests at the end of the year...those low scores will result in less funding. Ask yourselves,"How was something so good for the children, not known about before it was implemented?" Why didn't they 'Welcome' C.C. on school webpages or have banner's over the front doors like they do everything else?" It was dumped in our laps like a ton of bricks and now we're throwing them back! Get out and stay out CC...we want nothing to do with any part of it!NOTHING!!

These common core standards are hurting our schools and our children, my son went from loving school to hating school, He himself sees the difference in the learning process. He says school has become to easy, it frustrates him that he's no longer challenged, And so many kids are feeling the same way, and many parents are pulling their children out of public schools to homeschool. Our schools are failing our children in a really bad way, This common core is not doing our children any justice.. Its hurting them and has taken away the love of learning. And the federal Government had no place in our schools, we are loosing good teachers if they can't manage to have their students pass these testing standards, and some are leaving their jobs that they love cause of this. Is having this curriculum worth it? I and a lot of others don't feel it is, And I sincerely hope our law makers in kansas doesn't either.

Common Core does not encourage to raise student achievement in Kansas, it removes local control, it is not field tested, and it is not internationally benchmarked. Common Core affects all students – whether in public schools, private schools, parochial schools or home schools. The Common Core standards are copyrighted and owned by private organizations outside the state of Kansas. Kansas does not have the power to change or delete the standards. Students will succeed when parents and teachers have more influence than federal bureaucracies and big business. If we are to be a free nation of self-governing people then local control of schools must be restored!
