Support Local Control of Education in Kansas - Stop Common Core

Common core has got to stop. Parental rights an students rights are being attacked by government. This must stop now!!!

Common Core is ridiculous and totally dumbing down our children not only in grade school and high school but destroying there changes of a good college education. It must be stopped now.

It's important that we fight this absurd standard of education known as Common Core and take it down now rather than later. Waiting to long will result in the inability of future generations to fight not only this example of corruption, but others as well. Common Core is meant to cripple kids intellectually and disinterest them in furthering their education independently. Allowing it to persist is to ensure the death of independent thought and any ability to revive it.

I am the proud mother of three very intellectually gifted children. Whereas the older two (aged 20 and 17 - now in college) were able to be challenged in their formative educational settings, I fear that my seven-year-old will not have the same opportunities to grow. Under Common Core, her love for learning is already becoming stifled and frustrated. This is my main practical concern. My ethical concern run much deeper. I have seen a growing number of worksheets and assignments introducing very subtle, easily-overlooked globalizing propaganda, as well as developmentally, ethically, and maturity inappropriate content. One can only reason these subtle messages are, by design, meant to place a gap between children and their parents. This gap is further widened by the complete reconstruction of mathematics. The inability to use the PERFECTLY functional arithmetic standards used for hundreds of years completely eliminates the social and familial bonding that occurs when a parent or guardian helps their child with their homework. Our children trust us to help them when they "get stuck" - especially in math. They know they can count on us to help them understand and relieve some of their anxiety by walking them through the problem and helping them learn at home. A kernel of trust our young children have in us to "make it better" is lost every time we have to throw our hands up and say, "I can't help you. I don't get it either." Suddenly we find ourselves on the same playing field as our children, with nothing to offer but to commiserate over a ridiculously confusing system where simply "doing math" is not accepted. The consequences for families, relationships, and our children's ability to excel and strive for greatness run far deeper than just failing a test.

I am a retired educator and I feel that Common Core has stifled our teacher's creativity in teaching strategies, ability to have sub lesson plans for students that need help and insulting their intelligence, knowledge and expertise by given them scripted materials. Let our teachers do what they know best - teach!

The states should have the right to make the education standards and not the government. This is not working and our children are going to suffer

Please stop playing political games with my child's education. We have sat through many nights of tears and frustration trying to solve simple subtraction problems due to the common core mess that comes with simple math problems. Answer a problem correctly and still get an F because we didn't jump through the correct hoops to achieve the answer. Travesty.

Common Core is the stupidest thing I have ever seen.

I have tried working through common core math worksheets and been thoroughly confused at the less than efficient methodology. More like chaos. This is the "dumbing down" of America.

Please bring HB2292 to the floor and pass it with no amendments.

Common core is the most radiculous that has been introduced. It has wasted a lot of valuable teaching time that our youth does not have.

Dear Mr. Speaker, I am emailing you today to ask that "Bill HB2292" be brought to the House Floor and PASSED as soon as possible. Our children's education and the future of this Great State of Kansas depends on it, and will insure that this generation of children will not be bound by the same unreasonable standards, and the box that Core Education has put them in. It has destroyed too many lives of past student's, and future generations will be subject to the same unfairness. Core Education restricts those being educated, and therefore, not given the individual skills to find themselves and their OWN abilities. Thank You for your time and consideration. Let parents, not the Government, school their children.

I am against the Common Core Standards. There will never be a one size fits all for all children or people. This kind of stuff needs to stop. A lot of this information is discussed with our pediatricians or doctors and this should be protected by HIPPA.

Stop Federal intrusion in our educational system and keep it in safer hands.

I chose to home school my kids to get away from common core. This one size fits all curriculum is harmful to children who don't learn in the same way and it is ridiculous to mark a problem wrong because it wasn't worked out in the proper manner. The correct answer should be a lot more important then how the student got to that answer.
