I see this as the dumbing down of our children. Simple as that. My Grandson always did very well in math and way ahead of the game through grade school. He is struggling now due to Common Core & his grades are falling. He has nobody to help him as his older sibling nor his mother know anything about it. He is also having problems with Language Arts also due to the Common Core concept. I just hope that IL continues their fight to get it stopped although the money spent may play a role in continuation of this ridiculous way of learning. Basic math has been used by all people and is used every day. This is all kids need to concentrate on to get them through life. It's not broke.....don't fix it.

It's an insult to education and a way to make 2 classes of people in the USA. Why have the ELITE schools said NO to common core!? Why did the states take their word without knowing ANYTHING about it!!!

Common Core is a Federally progressive step at controlling education starting at a young age. They should not get to control the educational narrative. It's a very broad attempt started in the evil depths of the U.N.

I believe that common core mathematics will create a generation of children who understand math much less and hate math even more than my own generation. It's only focus is on the language/verbage of the 'common core', not actual math.

Once and for all we have got to get our legislators to hear the people and do what we sent them to congress to do....listen to and heed OUR voice. This common core crap is hurting our kids. The math is ridiculous and is not being thoroughly explained in the classroom and then our kids come home and don't remember what to do. They make the kids go a mile out of the way to get the same answer we would have gotten doing it the way we as parents learned when we were in school. This has got to stop!

The most ridiculous math applications I have ever witnessed. This common core math strips the imaginative nature out of math itself. New math is always discovered through imagination, and simply strips it out. This type of math education may work for the Chinese, but if you look at past Nobel laureates in Mathematics, you will not find one Chinese laureate. That's because, their math standards don't allow for imaginative allowances. Give our kids back their imaginations!

We are wasting valuable family time trying to figure out what to do in regards to these common core problems. It asks for 19 x 50 yet wants you to make it into 20 fifties minus 1 fifty and completely break it down into a tape diagram. Is is WAY easier to just do 50 X 19 the way I learned in school. I swear, this was done to destroy the future generations of America. Kids are no longer learning in the classroom. I ask the teachers for help and they send me a link to a website full of pages that does not help at all. I ask for my son to get tutoring after school on this and I am ignored. I am beyond fed up. I am honestly considering homeschooling or paying the crazy prices for them to go to private school if this doesn't change.
