My 4th child. ALL 3 of the others have done very well in school and in college and are on track to make a difference in society. We moved to IL and you are trying to make my youngest child completely dumb. Even the other 3 children cannot help her with her homework after making Deans lists their Freshman Year in college. Stop milking the financial system at the exsoense of my child!!!

My son will be failing math thanks to Common Core. On what planet is it a good idea to teach studies to children in a way that they cannot receive help from their parents if they are struggling in it? Is it appropriate to suggest that a parent with a college degree go back to school to learn how to subtract and add?

Common core is garbage, its a political favor and not healthy for our children. I have spoken to many parents and they all agree this is a unacceptable way to teach children math. We need to stop now as we are hurting our children's future. Our children are confused and a simple math problem shouldn't have to be explained We need to bring back the basic math.

My kids struggle every night with their math. It's simple addition and subtraction and even multiplication problems. Yet it has to be dragged out by drawing pictures and 3 or 4 other steps rather than simply just adding 2+2 is 4 it's why is 2+2 =4 and where do these numbers come from. It's ridiculous!

Our daughter struggles with this and it's breaking her down she thinks she's stupid and it breaks my heart. As an adult I don't even understand some of this math. How are we suppose to help our children when we haven't a clue. Homework time is never fun in our house and it gets eveyone all wild up. For years the regular way worked just fine. If it's not broke let it be.

This system is ridiculous , every child learns differently , I feel all the unnecessary steps to achieve the same answer are totally confusing. My 11 yr old is stressed out so bad about the math, and I feel like a complete idiot for not being able to break down the steps. Save this math for kids who excel, let kids master the basics it's worked fine for all these years.

Common core is just a piece on nonsense for kids and parents. How in the world would you have to do tree or four different steps to add 7+4. Common core is stupid

I agree with stopping the common core as it is now. In “World’s Best Teacher’s Too Much Testing Warning,” (2015. (Education Journal. (250), 7.) Ms. Nancie Atwell, a US teacher, warns our educators that the Common Core is limiting our teachers to teach our students to pass standardized tests instead of focusing on literacy. While some argue that the Common Core focuses on the mid-stream of education not the lower or higher end; there are others that argue that the Common Core is designed for students that are already ahead of the learning curve. (Pros and Cons, 2011). So, how effective is the Common Core for the gifted, mid-stream and higher learning students? Based on the Illinois standardized tests results (http://www.corestandards.org/standards-in-your-state/), the Common Core standardized testing does not prove to be truly effective. The “traditional” test results in 2013-2014 were in the 50’s percent proficiency for English compared to the PARCC (Common Core Standard Test) results in 2014-2015 that were in the 30’s percent proficiency. Math scores also dropped when PARCC testing was implemented. Many states have opted out of the Common Core and I hope that Illinois will win the fight to implement a different type of curriculum and testing for our students. We should test knowledge and not feel pressured to follow what the government wants us to do in fear of losing funding. Students do not learn the same way and we should considered eliminating standardized testing in full.

Want this out of my kids life and am angry at our politicians and Republican and Democratice representatives who allowed this monstrosity to overtake our educational system. Get it out now. Anyone who opposes what this stands for has my vote.

The stress created and the fact that parents struggle to understand it to help their kids with homework.....it is a ridiculous program. Go back to READING, WRITING, and ARITHMETIC. Served us all very well!

The shifts in curriculum due to common core are not develomentally appropriate all the time. And not to mention create an environment where parents cant assist their kids. I would give it a better chance if educators and child psychologists were actualy involved in the setting the goals.

Not only is common core math completely illogical, but the amount of work required to be up to the English standards is more than some paying jobs.

I am a parent who sees the stress on students and parents and the misguided teaching strategies all in the name of scores and percentiles. CC curriculum must be stopped!
