I think it's a sad day when the federal government interferes in traditional education methods, creates expenditures in our already cash-strapped Illinois schools, and fosters homework frustration in both parents and children with a system that will not prepare them for anything but taking tests. There is a reason why some things were never federally controlled. This is a train wreck!

Every time these brilliant people change the basic way to teach math we lose the interest of more and more of our youth. Quit over thinking the simple basics. This is why these children have trouble with simple multiplication and division and are adding and subtracting on their fingers.

My husband and I cannot help our daughter with her homework because we dont understand. So we all get frustrated and she stops trying. Stop the insanity!!!

When my child comes home from school with a math sheet that he should have gotten a 100% on marked all wrong because he did not use the Common Core method is just wrong!
Both my children have IEP's - what happened to teaching to your child's learning style?
I grew up old school math and don't have any issues solving math problems - if it isn't broken leave it the hell alone!

Common core does not belong in schools. This does not teach kids anything. All it does is frustrate kids and parents causing school to be an aggravation. We wants kids to want to learn and go to school not frustrate them with stuff like this
Teach these kids how we all were taught and how their parents were taught things to be done and so they can help and teach them.
