We stand to loose a large number of our best teachers implementing common core. I have a sister that teaches and she wants nothing to do with this very leftist method of teaching. America needs to be wary of this broad method of making clones of our children and not teaching American history and civics.

We need to stop Common Core NOW before the 2014-15 school year begins! I am a special education and ESL teacher, our students are not "One Size Fits All!"
I love teaching and I love this country to much to let the government take control of our schools and brainwash our children. Textbooks are changing and not providing the whole truth about our Constitution and our country. Common Core is a threat to to education and privacy. It hinders creative teaching and critical thinking. Students are one size fits all learners therefore should not be educated with one size fits all curriculums. Common Core invades individual privacy and supports the large corporations who make their money ( a lot of money) on developing educational materials and tests.

As a parent it is my job to protect my children from any threats I see. Common Core is not only a threat to their future minds and creativity but also on their personal information. It is taking my rights as a parent to decide who is fit to see my children's personal infromation. More complicated does not equial more rigorous.

Scenario #1: My child has to take 2 hours to figure out how to "show her work" with certain math concepts via the common core way.
Scenario #2: I show her the same math concept in 5 minutes.
Problem: Unless she shows her work the CC way, she doesn't get credit. They are turning easy math concepts into very convoluted and difficult to understand problems.

I think all the steps to get a simple answer are just out of this world. Simple math and less steps to get the answer is the best. to many steps to remember. OMG what is this world coming to.

If you were starting this with just K & 1st grade, I could see it working. Why in the work would you expect these kids to have to relearn their fundamentals of math when they already understand a simple formula that is already working. Who ever thought of this needs to be downsized! Then you can use core math to figure out how much time was wasted thinking this up, the dollar amount lost that could have been used for so many other things, and where the funding can now go to actually benefit our children's education! Stop this madness!

Whatever happened to simple math? Common Core makes it way more difficult than it needs to be. I'm a sophomore in high school and I likely won't be seeing any of it, however, my youngest stepbrother is still in grade school and has years of it to come. Stop this nonsense!

We have 4th grade girl at a Catholic school in Downers Grove. Common Core in math has caused nothing but confusion; she has gone backwards in her math understanding. CC needs to be removed from IL completely. We too are considering home schooling and even moving to Indiana to escape this horribly political and misguiding program.

Absolutely appalled at the Common Core my 1st grader is "learning". I will seriously consider home schooling if Illinois doesn't remove this atrocity from our schools!

I was born and raised in Indiana where Common Core is not in affect. I have a kindergartener that I'm very concerned about,becuase we do live in Illiniois. My husband and I will seriously consider relocating if we feel this new Common Core is not benefiting our child.
