Although my children are no longer students in the Onslow County school system, I do not believe that SHIFT is in the best interest of our students nor does it reflect our community values.

While I do believe sex education is very important, after researching some of SHIFT's teaching material, I feel this particular program is not something I would allow my child to parricipate in.

While reducing teen pregnancy and protecting our youth is a more than worthwhile cause, I do not believe that the methodologies employed by SHIFT NC are in keeping with the values of morality. Presenting obscene and immoral behaviors as being socially acceptable will only serve to further degrade the moral fiber of our teens and young adults. Removing the consequences of personal choices and behaviors is one of the worst things we could do for the younger generation. We should be teaching children to avoid consequences by avoiding the acts and situations that lead to them. We should be teaching our youth the hard truth of being responsible and accepting the consequences of their actions. What programs like SHIFT NC will produce is a generation of young adults who have no concept of accountability and who are ill prepared to cope with and adapt to difficult situations. Both the short and long races of our society are bring ruined by these liberal programs. Please, before considering such an immoral program that carries such long term destructive effects, consider the degradation of the morals and values of our youth and future society. Instead, implement a program that educates teenagers on safe practices, but emphasizes abstinence and the consequences of the lack of self control. Let's empower our youth by teaching them the difference between right and wrong, rather than accepting that which is wrong as being right by presenting lude acts as being "normal" and removing the consequences. Teach cause and effect rather than removing the effect. Give our youth the chance to grow into responsible adults who possess the ability to think critically and forge a prosperous and morally sound future for themselves and our nation. Leaders know how to cope and adapt. They work hard, practice restraint, make better decisions and are more productive. Let's do our part to produce a generation of leaders with a morally sound sense of judgment. Please, for the sake of the posterity

Please do not change the basic foundations that this country has flourished on. Please do not allow this new group of individuals to infiltrate our school system and try and twist the truth. Men and women are different and it should continue to be taught that way. It is healthy to show the truth. We shouldn't be forcing this new unhealthy desire to try and change that foundational truth.

This is just wrong! God frowns upon this kind of behavior! As do we as a community! This is such a harmful thing to try to push onto our children, I'm not sure who's mind that this idea stems from, but who ever it is please hand them a Bible and ask them to read Gods word and law.
